Karen Bartlett, Founder, Leadership Coach, CPC, ELI-MP, ACC Hi! My name is Karen Bartlett. I am an educator, a coach, a social change maker, an entrepreneur, a wife and a mother of two teenagers. I have immense gratitude for the life I’ve created and who I get to BE on a daily basis. I am dedicated to creating a world where people feel connected to one another, loved for who they authentically are and powerful to create a life of joy. Community, growth and contribution are of utmost importance to me. |
I have been a care-taker and educator all my life. It started with helping my mom at a very young age with “those Dunn boys,” and extended out of the house at the age of 5 when I was promoted to “assistant” to my preschool teacher, Norma Brown. Taking care, supporting others, seeing the beauty in people and working to create a better life for all is in my DNA.
The passion I have for contributing to others and making the world a better place has led me to some amazingly beautiful and educational places in life: homeless shelters in Denver, the Dine’ Nation in Arizona, urban neighborhoods in Kingston, Jamaica, urban schools in Compton, California, and Denver, Colorado. I have a tremendous amount of privilege, and I appreciate it every day. And I have always wanted to use it for good.
Still, even with all that I’ve seen and learned, all that I know, all that I have, I’ve found myself full of stress and anxiety, completely depleted, exhausted, and burned out repeatedly in life. I’ve left teaching in public education twice; I’ve closed two businesses; and I gave up thoughts of working in the nonprofit sector again (except for volunteering or serving on boards). I’ve never been able to sustain my service, my giving, my dedication in one context due to the stress and strain it put on me and my life physically, mentally and emotionally.
My story is not at all unusual; it is the norm for those who are dedicated to serving others and contributing in important and impactful ways to create a world where everyone is loved, supported, thriving and living a joyful life.
And, there is another way to sustain this contribution. I now know it, and my mission is to share it.
